Neil Molloy has maintained a longstanding, intimate relationship with UM-St. Louis. Because Molloy represents District 81 in Normandy, which includes the University campus, UM-St. Louis looks to him for leadership in higher-education issues.
He first came to UM-St. Louis as a student in 1966. The Army Reserve, however, forced him to put his education on hold.
Molloy later returned and graduated in 1974 with a bachelor of science degree in education. He worked and traveled and then returned once again to study accounting.
“The thing I’ve always liked about UM-St. Louis is the quality of the faculty and the spirit and sense of purpose on the campus,” Molloy said.
Molloy, who is currently serving his fourth year in office, said he uses his background in accounting and education as a member of five education committees, including the Education-Appropriations Committee. Much of the success enjoyed by UM-St. Louis in the legislature during the past several years can be attributed to Molloy’s effective leadership.
