Dr. Alvin R. Mauldin, Jr.
1932-2009
Dr. Alvin R. Mauldin, Jr., loving husband, wonderful father and grandfather, successful chiropractor and renowned healer went home to be with the Lord on January 29, 2009 at the age of 76 with his wife by his side. Alvin was born November 3, 1932 to Alvin R. Mauldin, Sr. and Winnie Novelle Turner Mauldin in Kirvin, Texas. As the child of a Methodist Minister, he spent his childhood moving from parsonage to parsonage in rural towns across Texas. He graduated from Bronte High School in 1949 and later graduated from McMurry College in Abilene, Texas with a degree in English. He was then offered a full scholarship to Peabody University at a time when money was scarce, with intentions of becoming a nuclear physicist, which he declined after receiving the spiritual call to heal with his hands. While on a visit home from school, he met the love of his life on the steps of the Mertzon Methodist Church and on February 1st, 1957 he married Mary Anita Wuemling in Mertzon, Texas. After graduating salutatorian from Texas Chiropractic College in August of 1957, Alvin and Mary moved to Sabinal, Texas where he practiced briefly before moving to San Marcos, Texas in 1958. There they made a home and raised two daughters while he became an internationally renowned healer in his field. He practiced in San Marcos for 31 years before moving to Austin in 1989, where his daughter Kimberly joined his practice, which then became Mauldin and Heinrich Chiropractic. His contagious laughter and crooked grin delighted his patients young and old. He shared his gift of touch in his practice until November 2008.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Wuemling Mauldin, two adoring daughters, Sylvia Mauldin McMinn and husband Mike, Dr. Kimberly Mauldin Heinrich and husband Chris, and three grandchildren, Ashley, Brandtley and Corey McMinn, all of Austin, Texas; brother, Donald Mauldin and wife Deloras of San Angelo, Texas, sister Sandra Mauldin Rackley and husband James of Rockdale, Texas and several nieces and nephews.
