Biography
Officer Kier T. Slater, 33, of Concord, died unexpectedly on Saturday, February 09, 2008 at Concord Hospital.
He was born in Wolfeboro, the son of Catharine Holmes and was raised in the Laconia area. Kier attended Newfound Regional High School and was a 1992 graduate of Plymouth Regional High School. He served in the US Navy, and afterward worked as a maintenance engineer for Aavid Engineering. Kier was a member of the Belmont Fire Department, joining in 2003 and worked as a police officer for the town of Belmont. Through his career with the Belmont Police Department, he was awarded the Distinguished Unit Action Award and was the liaison for the community watch in the Lakes Region Cooperative Area. He was an avid sports enthusiast and was known as a very caring person and a dedicated father, friend and officer.
He is survived by his fiancé, Officer Michelle Moir of Concord, his former wife, Brena Young of Belmont, two children, Bryan Slater and Kiersten Slater, both of Belmont, two step-children, Alexander Moir and Jessica Moir, both of Concord, two brothers, Jeff Levesque of Hebron and Derick Levesque of Florida, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 4PM on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at the Police Standards and Training Council building, 17 Institute Drive, Concord.
