Dawn Marie Russell, a true believer of Our Lord Jesus Christ was called to follow God at a young age. Never fading “Walking by faith and not by sight” she died Tuesday Oct. 14, after a lengthy courageous battle with cancer. She took her pain and suffering before the Altar of God, in His strength, with Dignity and perseverance. She was the beloved wife of 15 years and best friend of John Russell.
Born in Lynn, daughter of the late Christopher and Mary (Foley) Laterza, she was a graduate of Saugus High School, Class of 1983. She resided in Lynn for the past nine years, previously residing in Saugus.
Dawn Marie was a loving and caring Mom, who sacrificed all she had to take care of her family.
She was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church, Winthrop, a former CCD Teacher at St. Pius V Church, was active in Boy Scouting and the PTO at Sisson and Pickering Middle Schools. She was a former Teacher’s Aide for Disabled Students for the City of Lynn. Dawn Marie was a Best Friend to all she met, she opened her heart and ears for all who needed her.
In addition to her husband, she leaves one son John Russell, 7th grader at Pickering Middle School, one daughter Dana Russell, 4th grader at Sisson Elementary School, two brothers Kevin Laterza and his wife Paula, and Patrick Laterza, all of Lynn.
She was sister of the late Eileen Laterza.
Funeral from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 maple St., Lynn Friday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Holy Rosary Church, Winthrop at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting Hours Thursday 2-4 & 7-9. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lynn. In lieu of flowers donations in Dawns Memory may be made to Dana Farber Children’s Section 44 Binney St. Boston, MA 02115.
