Biography

On July 13, 1968 in Denver, CO, Margarite Vasquez and Richard Gamboa brought forth a beautiful child and named her Pam. She shared her childhood and adulthood with five sisters, Josie, Desiree, and Alexia Mondragon and Liza and Gena Gamboa. Pam lived at various locations in the Denver Metro area while she played, grew and went to school. As a teen, she attended Jefferson High School before moving to Pueblo, Colorado in 1984. She graduated from South High School in June 1987.

It was soon after graduation that she met Gary Medina, whom she loved and married on September 2, 1989 in Pueblo, CO. A new chapter of her life began when motherhood arrived. Giving birth to her 1st son, Gary Lee on June 26, 1990, she became Mama, a role she loved and cherished. Soon that role expanded with a new addition on March 24, 1992 when Faith Bethany was born. She watched them both bond with a love known only to them. Great was the love in her heart as it expanded and embraced her third child, Joel Israel on April 5, 1995. Holding, hugging, kissing and making them smile were her favorite pass times as Mom. Special were the times she tossed the football, wrestled, and teased Gary Lee. Fondness in her heart swelled as she watched her “Bunners” grow-up, dance with her brother as the Beauty and the Beast, and embrace their favorite man…Daddy. She took great pride in her littlest one Joel as she played with his “Big O” hair, tickled his little feet, and held him tight.

In August 1999, the family moved to Arvada, Colorado. Pam eventually became employed at Jefferson Center for Mental Health. For the past 9 years, she enjoyed and treasured her job and loved those she worked with on the Access Team. She was the first face encountered by the many consumers who walked through the door and they often commended her kind manner and the comfort it brought them. Many returned just to say hello and feel her warmth again. She devoted herself to doing volunteer work for the JCMH Wellness Walk and served on different JCMH committees. For 7 years, Pam was enjoyed her service on the board for Colorado Community Mental Health Association. She held the offices of past Vice President and was their current President. Her excellent customer service brought her the honor of the John Eachon Sterling Award in December 2005.

Pam’s greatest love of all was to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She honored him with her loyal service at New Life Center and her current home church, Healing Waters Family Center. She served her church by teaching children, women and helping others. Pam was dedicated to praising the Lord and sang with the HWFC Praise Team. Pam embraced God’s word and treasured Psalms 139.

Pam was a playful mother who teased and joked lovingly with each child in a special way. She enjoyed watching her children grow as they each developed into their own personalities. She took pride in each one’s accomplishments, Gary Lee wrestling and learning to drive, Faith, cheerleading and singing in Chorus, and Joel playing the violin and drawing. She did not do any of this alone but shared all the joys of motherhood with Gary, her husband of 19 years. Affectionately she called him lover and daddy. He was the highlight of her day as she waited for him to come home from work.

Pam took great joy in caring for “FooFoos” her rabbit and her birds. Many times it entailed her chasing “FooFoos” but determination won when she caught her. During her hospitals stays, one of her last instructions was to make sure “FooFoos” and the birds were fed.

On March 12, 2008, Pam began a different journey when she was diagnosed with Cancer of the Appendix. Beating the odds became her battle and this she did this with grace, beauty, and a forgiving heart as she embraced us all with her smile, love and arms until the angels carried her into the presence of her Lord and Savior in the early morning hours on November 11, 2008. She leaves behind her husband, children, family and friends to embrace each other and the memory of her laughter as we shed our tears.
