Helen Owens

Helen Lee Owens – 57, of Rocky Face, Georgia, passed away Wednesday – March 11, 2009, in a Chattanooga area hospital.

She was the daughter of the late Hosea and Nobie Adams and was preceded in death by her sister, Peggy Jo Johnson.

She was a member of Apison Baptist Church where she served as the head of the Women’s Ministry. She also served in the AWANA program and on the flower committee.

Helen worked as an ultrasound technician for Hamilton Hospital.

Survivors include her husband, Dudley M.Owens, three children, David Scott (Jenifer) Owens, of Birmingham, AL., Gypsy Dawn (David) Barretto, of Albertville, AL, Alison Leigh (Jonathan) Smith, of Dallas, GA., seven grandchildren, Magnum Owens, Bradly Barretto, Rebecca Barretto, Anna Grace Owens, Alexandra Smith, Madelynn Smith, Zachary Owens, four sisters, Glenda (George) Wenschhof, Ellen (Ross) Dannelly, Nelda (Bill) Hughes, Geraldine Murphy, three brothers, Ted (Jeannie) Adams, Terry (Sara Jo) Adams, Tony ( Carol) Adams, two sister-in-laws, Ruth Nelson, Doris Alexander, five brother-in-laws, Foster (Ann) Owens, Don (Jean) Owens, Doug (Betty) Owens, Gerald (Shirley) Owens, Ferrell (Denia) Owens, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday at Apison Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Campbell officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Plowman Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
