Kyran was our Halloween baby, born just a few days before Halloween 2010. He arrived in a hurry just after midnight on October 27th. Mommy and Daddy had dropped big brother at Mimi's house and rushed to the hospital, where they almost sent us home! But the baby was definitely going to come before too long. In fact, he almost arrived before the doctor did!
Mommy woke up on Thursday knowing that something wasn’t right, but went ahead and went to work. After being a work for a couple of hours, mommy kept having contractions not knowing what was going to happen. After work she picked up big brother Joel and went home but continued to have contractions. After calling the doctor we decided to go to the hospital.
Once at the hospital we realized that they might not want to keep us. After letting mommy labor for an hour, they decided that they would admit us. Once we were in the room, it was time to get the epidural. Mommy was really excited because she was in a lot of pain. Once she got her epidural, she was excited to relax and wait for Kyran’s arrival. But something went wrong with the epidural and it stopped working. They called the anesthesiologist in and she gave more numbing medicine to mommy and it still didn’t work. Mommy and daddy realized that this was very different than big brother’s easy arrival.
Along with the epidural not working, the resident doctor realized that mommy was going very fast through the labor. Mommy’s doctor wasn’t there yet, but the nursed realized that it was time to push. She wanted mommy to wait until the doctor arrived. She even called the doctor several times and ran into the hallway to see if she was coming. Once the doctor came in the room, it was time to push. After 10 minutes of pushing, Kyran Levi was born at 12:24 am on October 27th. At first we weren’t sure if he would fit his name, but he looked just like it when he came. Mommy and daddy were so excited to add another boy to the family and a little brother to Joel.
