Squadron Runs

So, every so often the squadron commander of our squadron at the Defense Language Institute would get on a fitness kick. Who knows, perhaps he saw someone who seemed a little overweight or out of shape, or perhaps one too many people failed the last round of PT tests? Anyway the whole squadron would be ordered into formation at Solider Field (pictured here). We'd then run all around Monterey before returning to Soldier Field

Sunday Brunches

Back when I was at the Defense Language Institute, my friends and I would go to the Officers' Club every Sunday for the Sunday brunch they hosted. It was the only time that the country-club-like Officers' Club was open to enlisted personnel. We used to feel like royalty going in there. Everything seemed high-class to us. They had an omelet bar, waffle station, and offered champaign with breakfast. This picture is me, sitting in a plush chair at the Officers' Club after enjoying a meal.
