Dan was a true hero in my opinion. To have a Chief take to the front lines, and do what he did is truly heroic. As the Chair of the WA State Building Code Council, and a former President of the WA Association of Building Officials, I sincerely appreciated Dan's involvement in Legislative hearings and SBCC meetings. His understanding of the codes was a great as his understanding of operations. Thanks, Dan--you will be missed. And, you were very greatly appreciated. jpn

Dan was a peace maker. You could be on the opposite side of an issue with him, and he would listen, offer guidance, shake your hand and give that big smile. You would walk away a better person for being in his company. He always made time for me when I would call him. He even loaned me an old fire siren one time. I remember him coming to town with his old red grain truck. He truly was a gentle giant. It will take this community years to truly understand the impact that Dan made, and how much we have all lost. God will have a special place for him. I hope I could be a tenth of the man he was. God bless you Dan. Thanks for everything. I will miss you!
