Rick was a truly unique individual. His disarming charm, rapier wit, and sense of humor drew people to him like moths to his bright flame. He was intelligent, gregarious and good natured, and kept people laughing with his fascinating and funny storytelling…he was the greatest storyteller I ever met. He was a Marine to the core even after he had retired and always had a gleam in his eye and a ready, completely infectious laugh.

I met Rick and promptly feel in love with him…unfortunately for me, I was only 12 and was to become his sister-in-law soon after. He is almost single-handedly responsible for my passion for football and for history. He had the patience and took the time to explain the game of football and answer all my questions about it until I understood it. I thought he knew everything there was to know about history and told me stories about it that I had never heard before. He was the source of a great deal of our family lore and it’s difficult to tell a family story without him in it as he was the catalyst for many of the hilarious family events we enjoyed. Rick was a friend to everyone and had a deep-rooted love of his country and his Corp; a patriot at heart who believed in what he was doing in Iraq. Rick was indeed a very unique individual with a big heart and that quick and easy laugh and I know that all heaven shares in it now.

Godspeed, Rick…we love you, we miss you, and will keep you with us in our hearts and memories always.

Where do you start, all the fond memories, the bad ballgames, the good games, the .07 left in the game Against East Hall. Going to the Plato's closet. I don't know I do know that I have lost a good friend. got to be the happiest man i knew with everthing never in a bad mood, unless his sugar was high ha ha . Most content couple we knew they { eli-mae} and Rick seem to enjoy each other so much, the man that said that his only hobi was Betty Sue. Remember at Floyd College at a Christmas tourney the big guy that was cursing at a kid and I got on to him told him to shut up , Rick never said a word, I ask him where were you when I was fixin to get whooped, he said I had your back,Ha Ha . If there is any thing we can do let us know. Love ya'll

Rick was a really nice man and put his all into his job as a Detective with the Gordon County, S.O. He always had a smile when I would see him at the Probation Office. I am so sorry that he has left this world at such a young age. Having a son in the Air Force during the Gulf War and hearing about the conditions in that part of the world was very hard on this family. My son died in Korea in 1997 and I cannot bring him back, but I can one day go to him. Mrs. Hickman, my heartfelt sorrow goes out to you and your family.
